Max Clifford To Divorce Following Sex Convictions

Max CliffordMax Clifford’s wife is divorcing him after he was convicted for sex offences against teenage girls.

Jo and Max Clifford married in 2010 after she spent a period of time as his PA.

Clifford, 71, became the first person to be sent to jail as part of Scotland Yard’s Operation Yewtree investigation, when on May 2 he was convicted of eight counts of indecent assault against four teenage girls between 1977 and 1985.

Judge Anthony Leonard sentenced Clifford to eight years in prison, saying that the media mogul had “groomed and degraded” his victims and through his actions in court he “showed no remorse” for his crimes. Judge Anthony Leonard said that some of the offences were so serious they would have led to charges of rape if they had happened today.

Throughout the trial process Clifford’s wife, 51, had been conspicuous by her absence. It is now believed that Mrs Clifford has instructed solicitors and is pursuing a divorce.

The divorce was confirmed by Mrs Clifford’s solicitor, Raymond Tooth. He told the Daily Mail, ‘They are divorcing. There are no disputed matters. Everything has been sorted out amicably so it’s all done.’

Max Clifford has enjoyed a long and successful career as a media mogul. Any divorce settlement between the pair is likely to run into millions of pounds.
