Children From Age 10 To Be Listened To In Family Proceedings

The British Association for Adoption and Fostering (also known as BAAF) has closed with immediate effect.  According to Caroline Selkirk, CEO of BAAF, this is due to “significant changes and prevailing economic conditions”.

Some of the charity’s functions will now be carried out by the UK’s oldest children’s charity Coram and by an entirely new body which will be known as CoramBAAF Adoption & Fostering Academy.  CEO of Coram, Dr Carol Homden has said:

“The CoramBAAF Adoption & Fostering Academy is a sustainable way forward which enables the expertise of two organisations renowned for their work with looked after children to be shared to create better chances for children.”

National Adoption Week, set to run from 19th to 25th October, will now be co-ordinated by First4Adoption (rather than BAAF as originally planned).
